Magwood Truck & Plant Services take on the Bushey 10K
On the hottest day of the year, Sunday 1st July, Magwood Truck & Plant Services based in South Mimms entered a team to run the Bushey Spire10k to raise money for St Luke’s Hospice. Directors Darren and Rita Magwood, started training for the race a short time ago having never run before. The team, which also includes Thomas and Theresa Biggins (brother and sister of Rita), are raising much needed funds for St Luke’s Hospice who cared for their father before he passed away in August last year. This was a real challenge for the team who have managed to smash their original target of £1,250.00 by raising a huge £4,020.00!

Rita says: ‘We couldn’t be prouder of the team that worked so hard to achieve our goal – raising money an awareness for this amazing charity that supported our family through such a difficult time. There was a fantastic atmosphere at the race with lots going on for the runners and spectators. We are hoping to make this an annual event with more friends and family joining us next year!’

Safe Urban Driving

Congratulations to Danny and Darren, two of our drivers who recently completed their 'Safe Urban Driving' course as part of their CPC training.
The course, developed by TFL, is aimed at all drivers of vans and Large Goods Vehicles (LGV) who operate in, or pass through, urban areas. It has been designed to promote the safety and sharing of roads with vulnerable road users in London with a particular focus on cyclists.
The specific objectives of the Safe Urban Driving course are:
To increase driver understanding of the issues faced by vulnerable road users
To improve driver attitudes to vulnerable road users
To change driver behaviour and to give more consideration to the issues faced by vulnerable road users
To ultimately reduce the number of collisions and incidents between Large Goods Vehicles and cyclists

All of our drivers regularly attend training courses to ensure they remain experts in their field.
